He is not here, but has arisen.

St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel

"Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has arisen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again."  The Gospel of Luke

Angels continually appear throughout the faith stories of the Abrahamic traditions, and yet so often our understanding of angels is clouded with confusion. For Christians, angels appear to several important people of our faith such as Mary, Joseph, and Mary Magdalene, and angels minister to Jesus throughout his life. The story of the Archangel Michael is also beloved for the resulting triumph over evil, and in the Old Testament Jacob is said to wrestle with an angel. These are just a few of the examples of angels entering into the story of our faith.

The study was based on the book, Angels: A Very Short Introduction, by David Albert Jones.
