Life in Christ is our intentional faith formation process for adults who wish to be baptized or confirmed as Christians, received into the Episcopal Church, or renew their baptismal vows. For those being baptized, confirmed or received, sponsors will share the journey. For those wishing to be renewed, they may serve as sponsors. A variety of topics are covered by different teachers, both clergy and lay, and the program culminates each Easter with baptisms, confirmations, receptions, and renewals. It is an ongoing program, and new participants may enter the process at any time.
2017 Easter Class
We have come to the conclusion of our 2017 Class of Catechumens. The first Admission of Catechumens was on the Sunday of All Saints, November 6 when we welcomed nine candidates for this class. The first mass with the Sacrament of Baptism for adults was on Sunday, January 8, the Feast of the Baptism of Christ. The Enrollment of Catechumens for the rites of the Easter season was on the First Sunday in Lent, March 5, at the 10:00 am Solemn High Mass. Baptisms for adults were celebrated again at the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 15, and candidates were confirmed and received at St. Andrew's Cathedral on Sunday, April 30. On Sunday, June 4, the Day of Pentecost we gathered after high mass for a Pentecost Brunch in honor of the catechumens.
2018 Easter Class
For those who wish to join the Catechumenate, the 2018 Easter Class will be formed in the fall of 2017. In the event that many candidates come forward during the summer of 2017, the process will be moved forward. Speak with the rector if you are interested in joining the process.
