St. Francis Pet Blessing

All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voices, let us sing, alleluia!

Sunday, October 1

Most high, omnipotent, good Lord,
grant your people grace to renounce gladly
the vanities of this world;
that, following the way of blessed Francis,
we may for love of you
delight in your whole creation
with perfectness of joy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Every year on the Sunday closest to St. Francis Day, we gather for the Blessing of the Animals. All furry, feathery and scaly friends, and their caregivers, are invited to any of our masses (8:00 am, 10:00 am, 6:00 pm) on Sunday, October 1, for a blessing in honor of St. Francis. The blessing of the animals is one intentional way in which we can honor all of God's creatures, giving thanks for the goodness of the creation.
