St. Luke, Patron of Artists

St. Mark's Kupuna & Friends Gathering

October 2017

October 18 is St. Luke's Day, and in addition to being the patron saint of physicians, Luke is also the patron of artists. There is a long tradition of Luke being the first icon writer, and in medieval times, various Guilds of St. Luke throughout Europe gathered together to protect painters. At St. Mark's we have a number of painters among our ranks including Darlene Weingand and Gerald Yacino. They shared some of their works of art with us, discussing the creative process.

  • Coffee and Tea - 10:30 am
  • Presentation of Paintings - 11:00 am
  • Low Mass for St. Luke's Day - 12:00 noon
  • Lunch in the Parish Hall - 12:30 noon

St. Mark's Kupuna & Friends

St. Mark's Kupuna is a lively fellowship of seniors and their friends. We meet monthly on a Wednesday for a presentation, mass, lunch, and fellowship. Most of our group are seniors, but anyone is invited to join us.
