From the Rector: All Saints & All Souls

Dear Friends,

St. Mark’s is a gem.  I say this because very few churches seek to steward the fullness of the Anglican tradition, and at St. Mark’s there is a regular weekly rota of the daily mass and the daily office.  On any given day you may come to St. Mark’s and be refreshed by worship and prayer.

Our celebrations of All Saints and All Souls on November 1 and 2 attest to this.  On All Saints’ Day we celebrate the communion of saints, and on All Souls’ Day we remember the faithful departed.  Many churches squash these days together into a bland sandwich on the Sunday closest to November 1, but this always results in neither day being observed well.  Thankfully we don’t do this at St. Mark’s.  You will find the worship services for both days below, and the music that the choir is preparing is incredible.  (View the Music Lists.)

It is a St. Mark’s tradition that the offerings of All Saints and All Souls are designated for the Rector’s Pastoral and Outreach Fund.  This fund is used to help those in need, as well as to support various outreach and social justice efforts on behalf of St. Mark’s.  If you desire you may donate online, selecting the Pastoral and Outreach Fund.

As we pray about our 2020 stewardship commitments to Christ and his Church, we give thanks that St. Mark’s shines the Light of Christ through our fine worship.  I hope you can join us on All Saints and All Souls.  These are two of the days when St. Mark’s shines the brightest with the Light of Christ.

In Christ,

The Rev’d Paul Lillie
Rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church
