High Mass

Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness

Sundays at 11:00 am

The Sunday 11:00 am High Mass is the highlight of the week at St. Mark's. Drawing inspiration from the English, Anglican, and Roman Missals, the Minor Propers are always sung, and on occasion the Eucharistic Prayer is the ancient Roman Canon.

The lectionary is the Revised Common Lectionary, and the texts derive from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. Incense is used liberally, and the mass begins with a Rite of Sprinkling and ends with the Last Gospel and Marian devotions. The St. Mark’s Choir sings settings of the Kyrie, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei, and the congregation sings the Gloria, Creed, and Our Father. This mass lasts approximately one hour and twenty minutes.

Prior to High Mass, all are welcome to join the parish Marian Society, the Guild of the Annunciation, as they pray the Holy Rosary at 10:30 am in the St. Mary Chapel. After the High Mass, refreshments are served in the Parish Hall, and the Rector’s Forum follows at 12:30 noon on most Sundays.
