On Sundays our children's ministry meets on Sundays gathering for lessons, songs, crafts, and activities.
We integrate the Godly Play curriculum into our activities for children at St. Mark's. Designed for Episcopal churches, Godly Play teaches children the faith through wonder, imagination, and exploration.
From the Godly Play website:
Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, the Godly Play method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond. Come join us!
We love having children in church, but we also know that some of our tiniest members often need some extra attention. St. Mark's provides for nursery care from 9:30 to 12:00 noon every Sunday of the year. Parents always have the option of keeping their children in church for the entire Sunday High Mass, but we also know that sometimes parents need a break. The children are brought into the church at the peace so that they may come to communion with their parents.
